In the simplest sense, biodigesters convert organic wastes (food waste, human and animal waste etc) into nutrient rich liquid fertilizer and biogas, a renewable source of energy consisting mostly of methane. A biodigester typically consists of a tank or bag into which organic wastes are placed. Over time, bacteria in the mixture breaks down the organic matter and produces biogas. This biogas can be piped out of the digester and used as a replacement for kerosene, firewood, or any other combustible fuel source. In addition to the production of a renewable energy source, biodigesters reduce odors and pathogens in organic materials, reduce surface and groundwater contamination, and provide a source of high quality organic fertilizer as a byproduct – which can improve crop yields and decrease fertilizer costs.
Clean Burning Stove
Clean burning stoves can come in many forms. One of the most common is a stove that burns propane instead of less efficient fuels such as wood, charcoal, or dung. The clean burning propane also allows people to save time and fuel since the stove is hot as soon as it’s lit. The other fuel sources take time to light and it is very hard to control the burn temperature. Another kind of clean burning stove uses the same fuels mentioned above, wood, charcoal, or dung, but it burns them in a much more efficient manner. The stoves are designed to increase the airflow to the fuel source, creating a better flame and reducing the amount of fuel required to cook food. Both types of clean burning stoves reduce fuel usage and improve the indoor air quality within the homes of the users, so either way there is a significant improvement in peoples lives.

Solar Home Systems
A commonly used photovoltaic (PV) system in developing countries is the solar home system. A typical solar home system consists of a small solar panel (mounted on a roof or pole) connected to a charge controller and a battery. The charge controller senses when the system needs to be charged and sends current from the solar panel to the battery, where it is stored. This allows the stored energy from the daylight hours to be used after dark. The systems often include one or more lights and a socket to which other electrical equipment, such as a radio, TV, or mobile phone charger can be connected.
