Gift Certificate Terms and Conditions

  • An Energy In Common gift certificate is a hybrid gift product with inherent built-in features that combine elements of both the ability to make a microloan and an automatic charitable donation. You understand that solely during the first 6 months following the sending of the gift certificate, the holder of the Energy In Common gift certificate may redeem it to make a microloan via the Energy In Common website. Otherwise, you further understand that:
  • If no part of the Energy In Common gift certificate has been redeemed after 6 months: If the holder of a Energy In Common gift certificate opts not to redeem his or her gift during the 6-month period from the date of sending, the entire unused Energy In Common gift certificate automatically becomes a charitable donation to Energy In Common's general operating expenses in furtherance of its 501(c)(3) purposes. After the conversion to a charitable donation 6 months from the date of sending, the Energy In Common gift certificate may no longer be used to make microloans on the site.
  • Redemption of an Energy In Common gift certificate by another user (i.e., someone other than the purchaser) occurs when any portion of the value of the Energy In Common gift certificate is drawn upon by such user to make a microloan on Energy In Common. Upon such a redemption, ownership of the Energy In Common gift certificate is transferred in full to that redeemer.
  • Energy In Common gift certificate may be purchased on the Energy In Common site in the dollar amounts specified therein.
  • Energy In Common gift certificate must be redeemed through the Energy In Common site.
  • Energy In Common gift certificate and their use on the Energy In Common Web site are additionally subject to Energy In Common's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
